The Chicago Bears stood as the winningest team in NFL history for the last 100 years. That changed Sunday with the Green Bay Packers’ 28-19 victory.

Green Bay now has 787 wins all time, one more than Chicago.

Through three quarters, it looked as though the Bears would hold on to its century-old claim. The Packers pulled away in the fourth quarter, outscoring their division rival 18-0 during the final 15 minutes.

The win continues Aaron Rodgers’s reign as “owner” of the Bears. Rodgers is now 25-5 (including playoffs) as a starter against Chicago. His last loss to the Bears was on Dec. 16, 2018. (h/t Pro Football Reference)

Things got dicey as the Packers entered the fourth quarter trailing 19-10. The Packers took the lead for good after defensive end Dean Lowry’s block on a Cairo Santos 40-yard field goal attempt.

Rookie wide receiver Christian Watson continues to look like a phenomenal selection from the 2022 draft after scoring his eighth touchdown in the last four games. He put the game out of reach on this 46-yard end around:

The season hasn’t turned out the way either Chicago or Green Bay hoped it would. The Bears were eliminated from playoff contention with Sunday’s loss.

They went into tank mode after exiling defensive end Robert Quinn and linebacker Roquan Smith in trade deadline deals and are one of two teams (Houston) with 10 losses.

The Packers — while not mathematically eliminated from the playoffs — will soon join the Bears on the outside looking in. But even during a down year, Green Bay finds itself on top of the football world.
