Dak Prescott’s fourth-quarter heroics prevented a Texas-sized upset.
After the Cowboys defense held the Texans in the red zone, Prescott drove 98 yards downfield on 11 plays, which led to a one-yard Ezekiel Elliot touchdown with less than a minute to go.
Although the Cowboys (10-4) won, they didn’t play well. The Texans (1-11-1) forced three turnovers— two were Prescott interceptions. The Texans capitalized on the turnovers and scored 14 points off of them.
Per CBS Sports, the Cowboys were 17-point favorites coming into the game, so they should’ve turned in a better performance.
However, the victory highlights one major positive: Dallas can trust Prescott in the clutch. On his last drive, he went 6-of-7 passing for 83 yards. He added 15 rushing yards on two attempts.
Per Pro Football Reference, Prescott had 17 game-winning drives before the victory over the Texans.
Prescott’s clutch performance was his first in over a year. The last time Prescott led a winning charge was in 2021, during a Week 6 victory over New England.
Prescott delivering late in close games is something the Cowboys need since they’re preparing to make a playoff run.
