USC quarterback Caleb Williams was named the winner of the 2022 Heisman Trophy on Saturday night and took time to make a joke about missing the College Football Playoffs during his acceptance speech.

After receiving the Heisman, Williams addressed his fellow finalists and, in the process, humbled himself.

“I may be standing up here today, but y’all get to go to the College Football Playoff,” Williams said. “Guess you can’t win them all.”

The USC sophomore received 544 first-place votes, followed by TCU’s Max Duggan (188 votes), Ohio State’s C.J. Stroud (37 votes), and Georgia’s Stetson Bennett (36 votes.).

Williams becomes the eighth USC Trojan to hoist the Heisman, joining a legendary list that includes the likes of O.J. Simpson (1968), Marcus Allen (1981), Carson Palmer (2002), Matt Leinart (2004), and Reggie Bush (2005).

After transferring from Oklahoma, Williams shined in his first season with USC, helping the Trojans go 11-2 a year removed from a 4-8 finish.

Williams threw for 4,075 yards, with 37 touchdowns and four interceptions, boasting a 66.1 percent completion percentage and a passer rating of 167.9. While Williams dazzled with his arm, he also used his legs as weapons, rushing for 614 yards and 10 touchdowns.
