Issues couldn’t have gone a lot worse for the No. 2 Michigan Wolverines (13-0) to open Saturday’s School Soccer Playoff semifinal sport towards No. 3 TCU (12-1).
Among the many points: A failed trick play on fourth-and-goal on their opening possession, after which a pick-six on their second possession to place them in an early deficit.
Let’s begin with the fourth-and-goal play.
After opening the sport with a 56-yard run to set the Wolverines up deep in TCU territory, Michigan was dealing with a fourth-and-goal from the two-yard line and tried to make a press release by going for it.
After a timeout, the Wolverines went with the Philly Particular and it didn’t idiot anyone on TCU’s protection which nearly appeared to be anticipating it.
